Interview with actress Minna Salpio

MINNA SALPIO
  • How did you get involved in acting?

I was asked to write a script for our director, for him to get some inspiration, and we decided to use that script for the actual film and that I should play the main character, because the film was partly autobiographical.

  • How different is it to act in a movie and to act in a theater play? And which one do you prefer?

I have no experience in acting in a theater play and this was also my first movie so I couldn’t say.

  • What are your weak points when it comes to acting? How do you try to improve them?

Showing strong emotions. I try to improve by practicing beforehand and focusing.

  • What are your strong points as an actor?

Being quite natural in front of the camera.

  • What have you learned from the directors that you have worked with throughout your career?

Working together, how to focus and how to listen to other members of the team.

  • What makes a good scene partner?

Being in character and flexibility.

  • What are some of the difficulties of the acting business?

As an amateur I really don’t have enough experience.

  • What’s challenging about bringing a script to life?

How to make the scenes seem real and to imagine myself in those situations.

  • What do you do when you’re not doing theatre/film?

I work as a secretary in a hospital.

  • If someone is going to make your life into a movie, who would play you?

Maybe one of my two daughters.
